A major fire broke out at a four-storey apartment building on Spadina Avenue at Mary Street in downtown Chilliwack, British Columbia, on the evening of August 5.
Firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical crews responded to the scene as flames and thick smoke were reported coming from the rear of the building. Aerial ladder trucks and ground crews were deployed while nearby roads were closed to allow emergency operations to continue safely.
Officials have not yet confirmed whether anyone was injured or how many residents may have been displaced. The cause of the fire also remains under investigation.
Residents are being urged to avoid the downtown area and follow directions from emergency officials as crews continue firefighting, assessment, and cleanup efforts.
